Arise, you, O children of the light, to praise the Lord of Hosts, that He may grant us the salvation of our souls. When we stand in the flesh before You, take away from our minds the sleep of forgetfulness, and grant us alertness, in order that we understand how to stand up before You at the time of prayer, and send up to You the appropriate doxology, and win the forgiveness of our many sins.
This video shows how a Christian should pray as i was taught from my Father of Confession.

That's interesting that you have a catholic rosary. Every greek orthodox I have ever talked to about the rosary have all stated that they don't prey the rosary and they don't believe in it. They do adore the blessed virgin, but not the rosary.

You need to read Catholic, not misinformed/biased sources. To "adore" the blessed mother is a deadly sin...always has been in the Catholic Church. Authentic Catholic *"veneration" (*venerable people are rare people of virtue, even in a secular culture) for Mary strives to mirror the love her Son, Jesus, had for her. It's "prAy."

Yeah, the rosary is not a big devotional in the Orthodox Church. I have seen it more from converts from the Roman Catholic Church. My parish priest has said that there is no problem with the rosary as a devotional (since the meditations are Biblical) but there are Orthodox who do vehemently oppose it. As an Orthodox Christian, I prefer the Jesus Prayer with my prayer rope. Lastly, Orthodox do not "adore" the Virigin Mary but "venerate" Her.

Regarding phialen's request for Greek Orthodox prayers: In Orthodoxy, we are considered Orthodox Christians, with our ethnic backgrounds being secondary to that. In other words, I am not Greek Orthodox (or Russian, or Albanian Orthodox, etc.) but rather, I am an Orthodox Christian, and attend a Greek (or other) Orthodox Church.

Neither Orthodox nor Roman Catholics "adore" Mary, as you say. As a member of the Roman rite, I do pray the Jesus prayer on my chotki daily. Christ is Risen! +Peace.+
