Nope. Chomsky is ... ( 9 months ago by GlobalDissident)
Nope. Chomsky is barely even an anarchist. No offense to him. As for me I prefer the term Libertarian Socialist because it shows my willingness to work with some left-libertarians, all Anarchists (except Rothbardians) and left-wing communists.

And I love that ice cream analogy. I feel the same way about economic systems and religions.
Libertarian ... ( 9 months ago by DackBev)
Libertarian socialists who oppose private ownership of means of production are not compatible with market anarchists. This is because the socialists condone expropriating businesses from private owners and forcibly collectivizing them. They're not true anarchists because they want to force their system on others.

If you support freedom then you have to support allowing people to own the fruits of their labor - property.
Why not take a look ... ( 9 months ago by Pommit)
Why not take a look at some definitions of market anarchism, anarcho-communism, and libertarian socialism, etc in an encyclopedia. It isn't all about voluntarism. It is the difference between socialism and capitalism.

thats absolutely ridiculous. socialism cannot function properly without the abolition of capitalism, your "socialists should go make a paradise world!" is impossible, it has been tried before and failed.

Luke...I enjoy your vids. I see Libertarian Socialism as "The freedom to cooperate"...I am not so much in favor of anarcho-communism and prefer anarchosyndicalism because it maintains free markets with a sufficient structural model to put the power into the hands of the people. I am sure you are familiar with this...but I think this is where Chomsky is coming from. The great thing about anarchism is that we both agree that we can live in harmony with these idealogies without coercion.

If I thought you had one thought as to what socialism is (economic or otherwise), I might just call you a dick. Ah, what the feck, you are a dick. And you certainly have no understaning of socialism in its present sense. Dick

Yes, there are ... ( 7 months ago by stifmeizter)
Yes, there are plenty of socialists. So many, in fact, as you have pointed out, that we could create our own little utopian society. However, the current choices on the market are only available to those who have something to exchange for the choices. Freedom, democracy, and even the most mundane things (like hot dogs), are purchasable, yes -- but only if you have the money. Your ideas - to me at least - seemed more lucid in the beginning. In the middle, it was a lot of drivel. Gave you 5 though

If you believe in ... ( 5 months ago by siebelseibel76)
If you believe in volunteerism and lack of state authority wouldn't you by definition be for public property (public not in the sense that it is owned by the govt but by all those that wish to use it). What I think Chomsky would argue against private property is what basis do they have to own that property at the expense of those that would otherwise want it? Isn't that force from the owners over the rest?
In the modern state ... ( 5 months ago by siebelseibel76)
In the modern state, all land is owned by the state and then given (through grants and purchases) to individuals. Without the state, how is private property distributed? Under AnCap, wouldn't land have to be taken before it is sold? After it is sold, can no one else get a chance to share in the use of the property? The difference b/t the thoughts seems that a libertarian socialist believes there is no validity to someone saying that this is my property and not yours.

Your answer makes a much more liberal use of logic than LAughingMan's. I especially liked your point on the right, in a market system, of people of any political leanings to create a community. That they would reject this should highlight what any non-market system advocates are really after: control.

Chomsky deals in a ... ( 5 months ago by GOPsithlord)
Chomsky deals in a variety of contradictions, not the least of which is libertarian socialism. Sooner or later, one will trump the other--people will elect that freedom of the individual matters more than what the state wants. By contrast the socialist will restrict human freedom and their prefered method will always be the state.
