Video Description:
Hello on this Friday, April 6, 2007. I'm Kristin Volk with a UPI top news headline.
Two tourists are missing after a cruise ship they were traveling on sank today. The Greek ship ran aground off the Aegean Island of Santorini yesterday. Rescuers are searching for a 45-year-old Frenchman and his 16-year-old daughter. They're among 1100 passengers who were safely evacuated from the
cruiser. The U.S. military in Iraq is protecting a group that's classified as a terrorist organization and not welcome by the Iraqi government. CNN reports the group called Mujahedeen-e-Khalq, or MEK, is an Iranian opposition group that's a source of intelligence on Iran. MEK has also helped expo
se Iran's secret nuclear program. As a terrorist organization, no American can support or deal with the group, but the U.S. military regularly escorts MEK supply runs between Baghdad and its base about 40 miles north of Baghdad. Climate change will hit the world's poorest people the hardest. That's
according to international climate change experts who say the natural world is already affected by this issue. The study says climate change will have particularly bad effects on developing countries. That means hunger in Africa and Asia to water shortages and rising ocean levels. New research su
ggests that menopause may raise the risk of depression. But that risk may be lessened by the use of hormone-replacement therapies. Hormonal fluctuations and a lack of estrogen may make a woman entering menopause twice as likely to have depression as premenopausal women. Symptoms of this may include
sadness, hopelessness and loss of interest in hobbies and activities. Thanks for watching today's headline. For all of us at UPI, have a nice weekend.
