do you believe ... ( 10 months ago by Radacoin)
do you believe co-ops should completely replace landowners, and landowners should be outlawed, or that both should be allowed? housing is just one facet of the economy, though, how do you propose to stop corporate rule, big business, monopolies, etc? in the free market corporate hierarchies flourish, this is why I believe it is the governments job to put a check on corporations

I'm not, I'm more of a Keynesianist.
I would advocate ... ( 10 months ago by BrightHelmVellas)
I would advocate the phasing out of all forms of property rights that are not directly controlled by and for those that directly use that property to meet their needs.

Good and bad? oh lawd. Can someone please give me a reason that life is good?
how would we cope ... ( 10 months ago by coaxx)
how would we cope with all the people who hate their jobs and so forth if everything was voluntary? what about the ill or the mentally challenged, or other ones who cant take care of themselves? it would lead to very very aggressive 'fight of the fittest' type society where the ones in power would again gather people. you can never have voluntary everything..

Not giving nike money for it is important, as well as not giving them free advertising by wearing it.

Your philosophy is ... ( 10 months ago by beforenightfall)
Your philosophy is just that, your own. I think it is easy to place ourselves as individual, but you must understand that there are restrictions to that voluntary idea. It is another enclosure, a self-serving pat on the back.
Jobs are voluntary. ... ( 10 months ago by stratvic)
Jobs are voluntary. If you don't like it you can and should voluntarily find one you like better.
Individualism is ... ( 10 months ago by EscapeGoats)
Individualism is not necessarily a prerequisite for voluntarism. Also, #5 doesn't lead to #6. Market Anarchism (which you apparently equate with Anarcho-Capitalism) may be an individualist/voluntarist philosophy, but it is certainly not the only one.
Although I should ... ( 10 months ago by EscapeGoats)
Although I should specify that all capitalism (and not just your limited definition of capitalism) is not voluntary. Not every individual can be an entrepreneur, and so as long as workers have to sell themselves for a wage (or, if not, then starve), then there is no voluntarism to speak of. When the working class has the ability to produce their products as they please and do not have to submit to the authority of a boss, then we can talk about voluntarism.
without a ... ( 10 months ago by abuaroberts)
without a regulatory framework capitalism HOWEVER you want to call it degenerates into monopoly capitalism. You have no historicism, thus your confused analysis seems rational at face value because you have no conception of social forces, the ones that the free market creates and you have no bearing on "conflict" and "progress"
"...as long as ... ( 9 months ago by alisher1984)
"...as long as workers have to sell themselves for a wage (or, if not, then starve), then there is no voluntarism to speak of." Bullshit. The primary function of every living organism is survival. If a person cannot offer anything else except for his manual labor, then there is nothing surprising that he must face either physical work or starvation. The fundamental law of nature. Get over it.
Essentially, you ... ( 9 months ago by alisher1984)
Essentially, you advocate a form of economy where ownership is limited to very basic survival needs (food, shelter, etc). That's a stagnant society with no incentive to be more productive and innovative. Why produce more if it will be taken away by others to meet their needs, not mine? You advocate dictatorship!

"Essentially, you advocate a form of economy where ownership is limited to very basic survival needs (food, shelter, etc)."
No I don't.
your nike example ... ( 9 months ago by memblor)
your nike example is terrible. Nike is bringing jobs to these poor nations. At least the labourers in these countries earn enough to survive. The alternative...no factory and no wages.
What the fuck is wrong with you?
Innovation happened ... ( 8 months ago by xnostromo)
Innovation happened all the time in history without incentive of making big money.
That's not what he ... ( 8 months ago by xnostromo)
That's not what he meant. There are many factors behind being a manual laborer and attatching stigmas to it. Being poor, a minority, a woman, foreign, whatever makes your life different, and you don't get the same chances. Just because someone is a manual laborer doesn't mean they should be subjected to terrible hours at terrible rates in terrible conditions--or starve.
I don't deny that. ... ( 8 months ago by alisher1984)
I don't deny that. But when an inventor comes up with a new piece of technology, I think only that inventor has a right to decide whether he/she wants to profit from it. Just because Alexander Graham Bell invented a telephone, it doesn't mean that everyone is entitled to own one. Or does it?
It's not so much ... ( 7 months ago by xelenty)
It's not so much that Nike offer jobs to the poor. Its more the point that they take advantage of a government that is willing to exploit their own poor. Therefore Nike are complicit in this exploitation... With free trade and no export/import tariffs, this exploitation would be eliminated by competition...
calm down. an ... ( 6 months ago by bjanczy)
calm down. an alternative to nike's "labour programmes" would be if they paid the workers more for the sake of less profits a choice between the better of two evils is exactly capitalism
Free market ... ( 3 months ago by BlackProteus)
Free market capitalism is not voluntarist. If the only alternative to working is starving, then you are being forced to work by those who own the resources.

I'll take the risk of starvation over the risk of getting beaten or jailed by government stooges any day of the week.
It isn't a choice ... ( 3 months ago by BlackProteus)
It isn't a choice of either/or. There is also libertarian socialism (or economic democracy; or syndicalism; or worker-run co-operative socialism; or whatever else you might prefer to call it). Under libertarian socialism, you have neither work or starve, nor state thugs oppressing you. There is a third way, beyond the oppressive ideologies of capitalism and Leninism.
