Anarchy is more than being anti-State: it means being against ALL rulers, ALL authority. Capitalism, socialism and communism cannot exist without a ruling class, therefore no Anarchist can be a capitalist, socialist or communist.

Socialism has nothing to do with government. It's an economic form. You can have Totalitarian socialism, Democratic socialism, or anarchist socialism (and probably more). Typically, both socialism and communism are considered either authoritarian or libertarian. The libertarian forms of each are synonymous with anarchy.

Well, I suppose you can define "communist" in many different ways... After all, Bakunin was an Anarchist. I just don't agree with their use of the word communist.

collective ownership implies an de facto democracy which in itself is a form of government. "Erego" it is counter to anarchism.

not really. in terms of anarchy, government is usually meant to be a coercive third party. if it's not coercive, and not a third party (not a seperate group of people, but the people as a whole) it's not counter to anarchism

indeed. also, anarcho syndicalism is not that everyone would live in peace if there was no state. it's more along the lines of "the economic powers that are usually used by a socialist state (ie wealth distribution) should be taken over by labour union-like orginizations, such as soviets or syndicates.

It does stem from freedom, for instance: cherry picking only the positive traits of free action while taking freedom away from individuals becasuse of negative traits of free action. Failing to accept the FACT that free action can be agresive. You can argue that freedom comes with responsibility, but in the end who are you accountable to?

This is a good video. However, what I do disagree with is this guy saying that one cannot be Communist and call themselves anarchist. True communism was about a stateless society and would be egalatarian. However, my ideal society would be where people can CHOOSE what type of economic/social system they want to live in. To me that is the true meaning of anarchism: being able to live how one wants to as long as they are not harming others.

No offense, but I really think that many of the Marxist-Anarchist squabbles are really just unproductive sectarianism. There are differences that should be debated, but there's really no reason why the two groups can't work together. And it seems clear to me that any free society, lacking in authoritarian structures, would have to have a high degree of pluralism- and how can you have pluralism if people are saying 'we're throwing you out because you're a communist (or an anarchist)'?

You know, the official definition of communism is: a classless and STATELESS society where the means of production are owned collectively and under direct workers control, and where you work "according to ability" and consume "according to need". The only thing communist about communist countries were their names.

I totally agree with what this guy said on the video. Capitalism and Socialism are systems that are imposed by a state. I also agree with him on the organized institutionalized religions with their hierarchy and authoritarianism. I am a Christian Anarchist and have no problem with people of faith fellowshiping together but not in an institutionalized or denominationalized manner.

Never in history has a system been overthown over night and transitioned directly into a utopia. This is why communist believe socialism is a neccessary faze to oppress capitalist plots to sabatogue the revolution and insure distribution of goods. After a society has dissolved class antagonisms then the state must wither away and become what anarchist reffer to as anarchism and communist refer to as communism. Soc. is a practical tactical step to what u call anarchism. Evolution if u will.
