Besides Friends this is my favorite show ever!! :') I've always felt I could really relate myself with Ally and the way she tries to bring in fantasy and imagination in her real life. Love it! And I never get tired of the theme song.

This show barely survived its inspiration for one season. To stretch it out for 5, or whatever, was really trying the patience of anybody of even reasonable intellect. If you want to create a show with fantastical elements then fine, that gives you whimsy. Don't, then, insult our intelligence by trying to deal with weightier issues like death. minute, she also runs her own dating agency... and so it goes on. And why is is Christmas 52 weeks of the year in Boston, according to the show? I was there in November and never saw any lights. The suspension of disbelief required for this programme is inhuman. A whole show devoted to people who can see unicorns, because their hearts are pure......puhlease! Ally McBeal was not a programme about lawyers, it was a review show for singers and writers with no sense of self-censure.

What's the problem with You? I was in my teens when it came out, and even then I understood what it was about: life. Just normal people trying to live their lives. Unicorns and dancing babies are real to some people, and I think it's great that mental issues were shown in a large scale. And I guess this show was the first one not to point fingers to the strange. For no matter some dress "funny", act "funny" etc they really might just be great people, not freaks to be chased with sticks.

Oh, for God's sake, get a grip. The show has nothing to with real life, it's no more an accurate representation of life than a Walt Disney cartoon. Trying to defend the show from your standpoint is preposterous. "Unicorns and dancing babies are real to some people"! Are you serious? That's what I meant:People w/ mental problems may hallucinate about juggling beds or whatever.What I'm trying to say is that even normal people may have some issues and in this series they were dealt safe,not pointing fingers.True,in Ally McBeal it was all cute and fluffy and never got to the stage of being admitted to a mental institution.And what's wrong in enjoying childish TV?I'm glad these series are made,makes me believe I'm an optimist after all when reading such narrow minded comments :)

You can't possibly be serious about this show's handling of mental issues? Not really serious? Again, you're giving it a significance it doesn't deserve. It's not a seminal show, by any means. If you want a show that deals with issues in an adult and relevant fashion then watch 'Six Feet Under', or 'The Sopranos', and shows of that ilk. I've got nothing against AB's fluff, but I do object to its smug and woefully exaggerated opinion of its own importance. It had delusions of grandeur
