Pictures chosen of Bristlecone Ancient Pines, most from California's White Mountains. Ancient Pines are today the oldest (acknowledged) living organisms on Earth. Methuselah tree is measured by core samples to be 4,789 years old.

Beautiful! The lack of words adds to it; just the raw emotion in the vocalise. And these magnificent trees truly adds to the mood; ancient pines... a sense of unfulfillable yearning as well as the old-growth trees. At times, this reminds me of a banshee's wail; mournful, lonely, empty, and filled with longing. And the banshee (bean-sidhe) is of Irish and Scottish origin. It all fits wonderfully. Loreena truly has a gift!

This is part of the best memories of the first Christmas I spent with my ex. I never knew the name of this song for eight years, as I had taped it and only had a hunch it was Lorena McKennitt's song. But I found it two days ago and it was wonderful to hear it in its entirety again.
