The Ottoman empire mixed up the populations intentionally so that no strong Greek majority exists. Before the Ottomans, citizens of Macedonia used to speak the Greek language and believe on the same religion as the rest of the Greeks. Greeks (no matter where they come from - in your example Minor Asia) are linked to Ancient Macedonia through their cultural heritage. The Greeks are the ones who speak the Hellenic language, the ones who use the Greek alphabet and the ones who kept the Ancient Greek civilization (Such as the works of Aristotle - Alexander's Mentor) alive until our modern times. Everything else is irrelevant. Nobody claims that all Greeks who live in Macedonia are direct descendants of the Ancient Macedonians

Dude yes it is. It started gaining a Hellenic character after the age of Heraclius and even then it was Roman. The Greek nationalism (and by that I mean the idea of a united nation) in the Byzantine Empire started by the time the empire was fragmented to smaller empires (Nicaea, Trebizond, Mystras, Epirus). That's what I mean. You may be referring to the use of greek alphabet after the years of Heraclius which I do not deny. That doesn't mean it's a "Greek" empire though... And I'm Greek btw.

The Kingdom of Macedon was in Northenrn Greece, it wasnt even on FYROMian soil. Where FYROM is today is what was during the time of Philip and Alexander called Ancient Thrace. The FYROMians may have some Thracian in them, but they are for the most part decendents of Slavic Invaders of the 6th Century AD.
