Virtual Prototype Space Vehicle

Video Description:
Star Chaser is my 4th air/spacecraft. It has 2 liquid propelled rocket engines and 3 jet engines using the same fuel, capable of accellerating the vehicle to the escape velocity of earth. Additional thrusters and an orbital manouvering system just like the space shuttles make it possible to manouvre, change orbit and fly in space.....The positive dehidral of the wings and it's position high up on the fuselage, which gives it a more round belly that makes it possible to make reentry in the traditional way, the ballistic reentry unlike my hypersonic jet which has to slow down in phases in the upper atmosphere in order to make a reentry. For this spacecraft i used the same cockpit interface as the space shuttle has in X-Plane, i adjusted to my own needs. The 5 engines are 3D thrust vectored. Nice!!!! Again all in X-Plane. Actually, CptWarp was right. It IS an in game video and it really does look like it was made in paint. Made from within X-Plane, that's what he was saying. So in reality this is Machinima. And frankly, if this was originally 1gig (at this resolution) then it is you who don't know what you're doing as far as video is concerned. I think you did a great job with the model and all.

good design man but...i'm very sorry to say that it's future is to crash during its first reentry have you ever asked yourself why the shuttle has a delta wing? or at least try making a lifting body if you want to do something futuristic
p.s. anyway this is not intended as a hater comment just want to help you in improving your designs.

sure for supersonic buy hypersonic i don't know.. sure the basics is the same but the thermal stress is not taken into account altough it is possible to read the temperature increase due to friction however nothing as transition from space to reentry and not the thermal stress as a set of maximum values for certain structural materials.. Would make it a lot more difficult...

Wow! What a great vid, thanks for sharing it! I'm just wondering that your Star Chaser at launch fires both jet engines and rocked engines. Isn't a vehicle like this supposed to run first on jet engines only, until they reach their maximum velocity, and then to switch to rocked engines only? Does X-Plane calculate the mass of the propellant, the empty mass of the propellant tanks, and the mass of the hull of the vehicle? Because getting single stage to orbit is really hard.

if you can conclude that from a little movie yes offcourse it is...!!! not the detail of the grafics but the feeling of reality...it uses the real flight dynamics as basics...

well the high angled dehidral makes it very difficult to stabilize... in turns....but with high AoA reentry no problem.... it falls like a brick juct like it was designed to making a ballistic reentry
