even if we had time ... ( 3 days ago by tracksabbath29)
even if we had time travel would it really be going back in your perspective? You'd see the progression as going forward in time. (ie: your watch wouldn't stop).

This video was interesting. I had a dream the other night about the holographic mind. In my dreams at night like anyone else, I can travel far into the past, present, and future. The mind could very well be the ultimate time machine.

If you went back in time, your watch would stay on the time that you are from. You are basically getting older and older in the past.

There may be more than one universe. Scientists have speculated that our universe could be one of many.
That's fine, simply ... ( 3 days ago by altonhare)
That's fine, simply define the term universe and I'll know what he's talking about. Even still, how can I talk about time travel without an explicit, clear, unambiguous definition of time? Can anyone enlighten me?

right, thanks for clarifying. Like if you went back 10 yaers you wouldn't forget your last birthday.
Time is actually a ... ( 2 days ago by alwebste)
Time is actually a dimension. We live with 11 dimensions, and time is one of them. It's not a 3-D world that we live in, its 11-D.

it is not possible. basically, if time travel was ever invented or founded in the future, then why dont we see people FROM the future in the present, or saw in the past?

If you think about it, would it be wise to come to the past and claim you're from the future? There would be rules and stuff with the typical dont change the future
true true very true ... ( 2 days ago by arabrap2008)
true true very true that's what i always tell em, no need to waste time on giving retarded examples like coffe and crap... we don't see people from the future means the time travel will never be possible
Simple, we dont see ... ( 2 days ago by barakc92)
Simple, we dont see them because they dont travel back into our days, or they just trying to do not change anything and because of this they are maybe dont even try to communicate. Maybe they are just observing us. Time travel is very dangerous. Cause if you change something, anything in the past, the future can happen totally different, then it happend.
What do you mean by ... ( 2 days ago by altonhare)
What do you mean by "dimension"? Is the dimensionality of something simply the number of "coordinates" needed to uniquely distinguish something?
I mean dimension as ... ( 1 day ago by alwebste)
I mean dimension as in the dimension of length, the dimension of width, the dimension of height, etc. Those three (length, width, and height) make up the "3-D" world that most think we live in. In reality, there is more than 3 dimensions, there is actually 11 and time is one of them.
So you're saying ... ( 1 day ago by altonhare)
So you're saying that these extra dimensions are truly physical. The proposed existence of these extra dimensions has nothing to do with how many numbers or coordinates are needed to uniquely specify a location in the universe. If you are using the definition of dimension I know then you are talking about the magnitude of an object in a direction mutually orthogonal to the directions of all other dimensions, but that wouldn't make sense. You must be using a different definition, what is it?

don't pretend to know what you're talking about
I'm using the same ... ( 1 day ago by alwebste)
I'm using the same definition of a dimension that physicists use to explain the 11 dimensions.. It seems you aren't aware of what I am talking about.. the 11 dimensions that we live in explains M-theory. Look it up. It's not that complicated. There's plenty of videos on youtube that explain it very well. Wikipedia also has a great amount of information about it. As I said, time is one of the 11 dimensions in our 11-D world (not 3-D)
You're telling me ... ( 1 day ago by altonhare)
You're telling me unequivocally that the universe is 11 dimensional and you have yet to define either universe or dimension. You just say you're using the term as the M-theorists do and avoid defining the term. But you said it's "not that complicated". So the only reason you would avoid a rigorous definition is that you don't have one. You don't know how the string theorists are using the term "dimension".
haha you are ... ( 1 day ago by alwebste)
haha you are ridiculous. I said just look it up so I don't have to define it for you. You can get the definition for yourself.. Don't take my word for it, find out for yourself. Don't be scared to look it up, it doesn't take that long. Just look it up and you won't have any more questions.. it's that simple.
I have watched ... ( 1 day ago by altonhare)
I have watched several videos on youtube and read the relevant wikipedia entries. I still have not seen a single definition of the word dimension. A cursory scifinder review of string theory in the literature makes it evident that it may take me years to sift through and find this basic piece of information. If you are opposed to defining the term I would be grateful if you could point me to the current, established string theory definition so that I do not waste my time.
