The Latin alphabet is a Greek alphabet(it is actually the western type of ancient Greek alphabet so don't say anything about it).Yes the Romans practiced everything the Greeks theoretically had approached but they stayed there,there is no Roman science,only mechanics,is this a great civilization?And the Greeks lost because they trusted too much the technologies that had won so many battles in the past without thinking that Rome was a totally different enemy.

From the three categories of mathematics(Algebra(Al-jabr),Geometry and Trigonometry)the first had nothing to do with the Greeks,I admit that ,but the other two were purely Greek,we excelled them and gave the foundations for the modern way of thinking in these areas.I'm sorry but Rome had nothing to do with science,only poetry and this kind of things(of course important but not making a great civilization).Something I just noticed:even the word mathematics is Greek(

What about oil lamps ? Greeks even touched that and Galens book on medicine. The Greeks could not defeat Rome because strategy was poor towards that point. Most of all they argued so much on how to fight Rome, in typical philosophical fashion that they were beaten. Rome allowed science to flourish more than Greece.

Latin alphabet evolved out of the Greek alphabet and thank god they made it different from Greece. It's alot better than having things in shape form such as "sigma".
And notice, Latin led to Romance languages. Greek never lead to anything other Cryllic which would would be Russian and some Balkanic languages like Serbian. I am sorry, but Greece were not perfectionists. As I sated before, it was the Romans that perfected anything the Greeks did. They were bet

Not true, the last report of greek fire beeing used was on the siege of 1453, when it was used to counter the tunnels the ottoman forces were digging under the walls.

awesome video + faved! but the byzantines didnt call themselves byzantines. they called themselves the roman empire as they were the remanents of the eastern roman empire. it wasn't until hundreds of years later that people started calling them byzantines.

yeah the used it to aim at the bottom of a boat, which was new because usually the wet wood would make the fire less efficient, until they made Greek fire which is unaffected by water.
