It's a game dude, where imaginations run wild and where crazy stuffs happen. It may be based from those concepts, but it doesn't necessarily follow them detail-by-detail. Seriously, I think you're smart enough to understand that.

Right on! It also bothers me that the creature stage is far more about what the player thinks is cool than what helps the species survive. To me it's a little ridiculous that halfway through you can sell all your parts and completely change your creature.

The game doesn't have evolution, though. Evolution is the survival of the fittest. Evolution is an agonizingly slow process, not something growing gigantic horns between one generation and the next. Don't get me wrong, I love Spore, but it bothers me to no end that it claims intelligent design to be evolution.

This is only a guess, but maybe there will be an expansion pack or something for that. I don't know, just it's a possibility that I believe. I haven't played the game yet, but I will this Christmas!

In Spore you "evolve" creatures by "intelligently designing" them, so in that sense, Spore does feature "evolution". The version of intelligent design that you reference and that has failed to make it into public schools is essentially creationism, which states that there was no evolution and life began in its current form. Spore's main gameplay feature can be described with the broad definition of "evolution", but not the specific one you clearly plucked from Darwin's theory of evolution.
