i am using a router... some said that the default gateway i am using might have a firewall or some sort of "blocking" users... is there anything i can do about that? by the way...where did you learn all of this? Are you enroled in Cisco? or whatever networking academy? You're Good....you're helping us a lot....thanks...=)

no, its not, type cmd in the search bar when you click the start icon and then hit enter, it will run cmd, i've used vista, and know from expericance.

then your settings for cmd are probably setup wrong, go to c>windows>system32 and find cmd.exe from there, and run it from there, sometimes the directorys get mixed up.

ports dont get throttled, but your isp can throttle you download, but limiting the ammount of connections you can habve to other people, I for instance, can connect to around 50. you have to find out how many your isp says you can, and then devide that amount by 10, 500/10=50. a way to get around this is by using a VNP (virtual private network) which sends 1 encrpted line of infomation to your pc, which if i get enough requests, i'll make a tutorial for. with better spelling!

you need to know your user name nad password (admin rights) to change some features, if you cant get to it but is a home connection, phone your ISP and find out what info you need, most are more than happy to help.

thank you so much it worked on my machine. with vista. although i just wasnt sure what to put in server box i left it blank and the download started and went from 0 to 120k. thanks again.
