It's a good question how Frank and his crew managed to get Harmonica's brother up that arch.:) Regardless, this is one of the best gun fight scenes ever. As to the previous comment about why the music is such a big deal, how interesting would the scene be if the two simply fired their guns? With no dramatic buildup, Harmonica's revenge would have no impact. By the way, does it appear that Harmonica's brother kicks him out form under him shortly after he curses Frank?

In most of Sergio Leone's movies you get the close up's on the actors faces and without them saying anything you know what they are thinking. With the calibre of actors he worked with to do this and especially the the way it works in westerns its absolute genius film making. I guess he learned a lot from his father who was a silent movie director.

Scifi75 Right on with your retort to that guy quipping about why the music is such a big deal and dont get on with the bullets and stuff flying": This is the difference between masterful film direction and productions values and the current crap that passes for film direction in too many instances. Its a scene thats turned into a work of art. Too much modern attempts at westerns lack that aspect. Its not a sporting contest where the outcome is all important..its the build up in movies that count

yes, its from the original movie and was played as you see it in the movie. If you buy the DVD this is exactly how the scene looks and sounds. Its not a Youtube dub over of a scene with some nice Ennio Morricone music used in some other production. Its the real thing.

i remember going to see this great epic when it first came out it was packed but ten minuets into the film everyone had gone out only me and my mate and about six others left being a western fan we stuck it out wow did they missed one of the best films ever . around 5 years later it was back in town in that time the good the bad and the ugly had hit the jackpot then this classic came back it played for six weeks no one left. a true classic.tribute to the director and the actors may they r.i.p

I really love Morricone because he's, along with John Woo and Quentin Tarantino, one of the most talented director when it comes to associate music & image. I mean, damn, Bronson's appearing when the guitar begins, the shot behind Fonda for the second note of the guitare, and finally Fonda's dropping his coat when the voices start ... definitely brillant.

Yes I heard of him :p And I especially liked his work with Walter/Wendy Carlos on A Clockwork Orange (even if Barry Lyndon kicks ass too :p). BUT, I think that it's even better with Woo and Tarantino :)
