1,200 men Legacy: A decisive Macedonian victory against the king of Persia, Darius III, and it marked the end of the Persian Empire. Alexander the Great were able to control most of the Middle East including Babylon.

read ur history, british empire is the largest empire the world has ever seen. this gives 1 reason y so many people in the world speaks english. many nations including usa is influenced by the british although when britan ruled parts of usa, it still is nt the largest empire yet. the mongols has very powerful army but the british has very powerful navy thats y british ruled divided. During opium war, the british has the most powerful navy already.

I meant that the Persians had few of those types of accomplishments, the people that they conquered, though, had many of those types of accomplishments. Just because Persia owned those places doesn't mean the things that were there were the Persian's accmoplishments. The Ishtar gates and the Hanging Gardens I said nothing about because the Babylonians built those, who were not Persian, Persia only conquered them. I did not say anything about the Great wall. I meant that the Greeks were more influential than the Persians. What a was saying was a response to an earlier comment which basically gave credit of the achievements of cultures that Persia conquered to the Persians. Eastern cultures had many achievements, I nver said they didn't. I think that the Greeks were contributed much more than the Persians though. Babylonians weren't Persians, they built their monuments before the Persians conquered them and without any Persian influence.

I was undet the impression that you said that greece culture was superior to eastern culture... And the persians did have a very rich and sophisticated culture. They did build wonders(Persepolis which was destroyed by Alexanders army for example) and if u ever visit Iran(Persia) you can see them firsthand. However their exploits arent recogniced in the same degree cause they lost the war and the winners write history and cause of the romanticism of "white" culture during the 1800s.

I know, I was mostly counting scientific advancements, although I should have said that. Persepolis was an amazing city, especially the palace. Some of what I said was a response to an earlier comment. Personally, I prefer Greek and Roman architecture, but I think the some of the things the Persians built were awesome. Ancient China is one of my favorite civilisations, and Babylon is too. Once I had to make a Hanging Gardens of Babylon cake for school a few years ago. Eastern culture is cool to

If by "Greek" you mean Mycenaean culture (not Minoan), than that's not true. Archeological finds from that period in Macedonia are meager and sporadic. Also, Alexander went to war, to conquer, not to spread culture. Best regards, historyofmacedonia . org

Alexander did spread greek culture, as he founded many greek cities throughout his journey including Alexandria in Egypt, which was a city teeming with greek intellectual life and much greek architecture. Although ethincally not greek, alexander and the people who lived in the cities he founded or rebuilt had greek culture.

Sorry, got to say this, RTW is incredibly innaccurate- battles back then took hours, not minutes, and units were much harder to rout and kill, Europa Barbarorum is much more accurate in this regard. I know you can't field an army of even 10,000 sprites because the game would crash, but even while RTW is a praiseworthy game, EB, a mod, does it much better.

Which culture do you refer to as "Greek"?
Again, Greece was created in the 19th century. Romantic Europeans called it Hellenistic, i.e. akin to Hellenic (even though it was Macedonian). So the term is incorrect, it is Macedonian culture, not "Greek". historyofmacedonia . org

dude i agree with you it takes hours and the troops are supposed to be harder to kill, but do you want the game to last a whole year. and the reason they make that way is because they have to proportion it to the computers ability

Well i wouldn't like it if you would take hours to complete a single battle. Then again look at the numbers. In RTW its incredible if you can field 10.000 units. Mostly you have 1.500. In real war there were armys of 100.000. Of course these battles are faster.
