Video Description:
Using clips from the movie 300, and one of my Rome: Total War replays, I have depicted the last fight of the Battle of Thermopylae. This video portrays only the last day of the battle, so since the spartans were surrounded, the terrain was no longer the key variable for the battle. and i could not find a map that looks enough like thermopylae

good video. just a note about the history: at the final day not all of the non-spartan greeks left. about 700-1000 greeks were left in total at the final day.

he did u dumb ass. the movie was wrong about what really happend. its 300 sparatns left alone the other allies left.also he was attacked from both sides cause the peasents found a path to go around the spratans. the spratns knew of this path and a small group was there defedning but when the spartans fearded there hometown will be attacked they left the path to defend there path and leonadrias died first. the the sparatns

There were 300 Spartans left and then 1000 Thesbians. The Spartans were flanked after some other Greeks abandoned guard of a mountain pass that allowed the Persians to flank them. It is assumed that soon after the last battle began, the Greeks broke ranks. Lionidus died soon after the battle started, and there was a battle for his body, but the Persians finally took the body and beheaded the dead Lionidus. Lionidus knew that he was going to die because of a prophecy.
Whew!That was a mouthful.

1 on 1, Roman forces have a hard time against a spearline. Roamsn would of flanked and used heavy Calv or Artillery to deal with them. Nothing works against a spear line other then Javlins or Arrows (pending they are not shielded and heavy armour). Spearlines need to be flanked or broken though (Heavy Cav, with massive losses). The greatest threat to a spear line is being flanked at which time - it loses all formation and all benifits of a spearline, and thus the roman forces could clean them up
