London doesn't have as much money as Beijing, Beijing spend 40 billions only, but London is just little bit 17 billion, i wonder if they can have enough to pay or borrow money around the world. lol. After the beijing olympics, I am kind of under the chinese confusion, who said the world is always rotate. China is the world power a long time ago, then Britain, then USA, soon it will back to the China. States proof that too, so.. and the recent USA recession is another sample. UK is out dated man.

I don't think London are alllowed to do that. I recently watched a documentary on the building of the Birdsnest, and the design and construction was monitored at every stage to meet quite stringent Olympic standards.

yuanhuagao, you are absolutely correct. It's only in the last 200 years that China hasn't been the most poweful country on Earth. Historically China has always been at the top, both in economic and political terms. I think China's recent phenomenal rise is just the natural order of things reasserting themselves.

People have been saying that the UK is outdated for years. London has been a major world city for over 200 years and fully deserves to be the first city to host the Olympics thrice. Oh and please bear in mind the UK is just a tiny, cold, wet and dark island in the north Atlantic so having the fifth biggest economy and being the country whose capital is now the world's Alpha city look like quite good achievements to me...

Yes they have, IOC President Jacques Rogge said in Beijing that it will be very very hard for coming olympics to surprise the world and that the Beijing olympics were the best ever. True dream came true for us!! England does not have so much cash, it will be tuff for them to built great venues but we will then all just sport together. They will use some of their existing stadiums and make it look nice, anyways, good luck London!
