The Greekness of ancient Macedon is easily proven and cannot be denied in any way. It is almost comic to attempt to characterize Macedonians as being Slavs or non-Greek. Let's not forget that the great Aristotle was Alexander's mentor and that Alexander's role model was no one else than the hero Achilles from the 'Iliad" otherwise known as the 'Trojan war' which Alexander so much loved to hear and read.

They are a new nation that is seeking its roots and that is natural. I won't be suprised even if many are descedants of ancient Macedonians. But the fact is that mostlikely they are more closely related to Slavic tribes that migrated from the North around 600-900 AD like most other Slavic nations are. And that is nothing to be ashamed of. The majority of Greeks themselves are descedants of the Dorian tribes which are Indoeuropeans that migrated south from modern-day Lithuania several millenia BC
